Good skin, lifestyle & cosmetics

This article on skin conditions such as acne or eczema was written for Inspiral Online, and is re-published on this website.

St Andrew’s University published a medical study a few months ago, demonstrating that “good diet improves look more than make-up” (on my website). It reviewed how more attractive people with a healthy lifestyle were, compared to people who undertook cosmetic surgery or used make-up. It concluded that a good diet was a cheaper and better alternative than Botox.

This would be no surprise to most health practitioners. People do not realise, but we eliminate a lot through the skin, our biggest organ. The skin can become clogged if our digestive system is sluggish, or we eat the wrong type of food.

I have seen very good success and improvement in my practice on skin issues. Nourishing the skin with good quality natural product, such as coconut butter or almond oil, will be a good start, but will rarely reverse the issue.

The first focus is to “open the ways of elimination”, with aiming at one to three solid and well-formed stools every day (sorry to be graphic, here, this is indeed important!). A food allergy & sensitivity test using bio-resonance technology can be helpful, to guide the patient to a diet and lifestyle that is more acceptable to his or her metabolic type.

If the patient is happy to make nutritional changes, this will be a good step. However, using homeopathy as a background support for a few months will really increase the likelihood to cure, or at least significantly improved, a skin condition.

This is because after many years of neglect, or poor diet, the body can find it difficult to re-balance itself, and work optimally. Homeopathy can be used to remind the body to restore internal balance, and remove any forms of toxicity.

For example, Sepia and Pulsatilla are commonly used for juvenile acne or acne due to hormonal issues. Sulphur or Natrum Muriaticum can be very good for itchy or dry skin. Finally, Urtica Urens is usually the number #1 for severe unexplained skin rash. All these remedies have a marked effect as well on the digestive system!

Chronic skin problems should not be over-looked, as, like the surface of a lake, they represent an accurate picture of what lies beneath – usually a body that struggles with toxins or disturbed eliminatory processes.
