The link between OBESITY and the risk of a severe reaction to COVID-19 infection has been highlighted in a report by MEDSCAPE, a medical journal and the World Obesity Forum… Independent of age and other factors, being overweight is still seen as a critical criteria for having a severe illness (three quarters of all critically ill patients being overweight and obese, and 90% of COVID cases are in countries where more than half of the population is overweight).
I have put more time into writing and educating therapists about the importance of nourishing well our body, and obviously of metabolic health in light of the pandemic. It is important to remember that infection from the novel Corona-virus and its mutations disproportionately provoke severe health issues in people with obesity or other conditions linked to metabolic issues.
The good news is that we can change this – here is an example: the testimonial from a patient who worked with me last year, losing more than 6 stones (41 kilograms) healthily. This was achieved without hunger and enjoying the odd treat…. Of course, this gentleman was ready to change… He was also concerned about COVID and his doctor was worried about his health risks during the pandemic …. with such healthy weight loss, he feels now healthy, his doctor is happy. And of course, he feels happier, healthier and with much more energy.
If you want a weight / metabolic review, let me know, especially as the metabolic balance rate is likely to increase again this year, partly because of the increasing costs of blood testing, and also because of the the German laboratory creating the plans.
My clinic is now fully open, and I am allowed to see patients face-to-face, so feel free to book by calling my reception service on 01223 655 300.
Thank you for reading, and wishing you the best.
