Mind & Nervous System natural medicine Cambridge

Thierry’s core speciality is in clinical homeopathy. This branch of homeopathy puts a strong emphasis on the importance of nutrition. Poor nutritional habits and dietary misconceptions can promote urinary infections and affect the body’s ability to nourish and repair our urinary system.

General Nutritional Suggestions for the Urinary System & Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)

– Eat an organic diet free from food additives and chemicals, fresh fruit, gluten free grains, raw nuts like almonds and seeds, vegetables, cold pressed vegetable oils.
– Drink plenty of water and cranberry juice.
– Avoid saturated fats, fried foods, processed foods, refined carbohydrates, excessive salt & sugar and soft drinks in general.
– While you may not need to stop, reduce chocolate, cheese, dairy products and coffee, caffeine-rich drinks.
– You can also shift your diet to a less “acidic” diet by following the alkaline diet suggestions on this page.
These can be re-introduced when the condition has improved.

Kidney Stones and other inflammatory conditions – Low Purine Diet

This is a good protocol when there are inflammatory symptoms or sub-acute gout. Metabolic Balance is a better foundation and will cover a diet reducing such symptoms. However, as a cost-effective and simple basis, this should address the nutritional issues for your joints issues:
– Increase water intake to recommended levels: Uric acid is excreted through the kidneys so drinking mineral spring water daily is useful to help flush out any urea / uric acid forming in the tissues.
– Reducing the amount of purine-containing foods will reduce the uric acid in the blood:
– Eliminate processed fat (margarine, inverted fats and ready-made meals) and do not fry food. Use steaming or water-frying.
– Eliminate alcohol and refined carbohydrates (any forms of white pasta, white rice, white flour, and use wholegrain instead). Eliminate also added refined sugar (fruit or vegetables with sugar are OK).
– OTHER FOOD TO AVOID AT ALL COST: processed meat and sausages, offals (liver, kidney, sweetbreads, brains, heart…), sardines, gravy sauces, anchovies, fish roe, herring
– FOOD TO AVOID IF POSSIBLE: fowl, lentils & beans, peas, whole grain cereals, spinach, mushrooms, cauliflower, asparagus
– If necessary, take a multi-vitamin B complex and Magnesium supplements. We will discuss the best one at your consultation.

I finally can forward you a detailed document with food content of purine and food-generated uric acid, if you wish a more detailed list of food. This is mainly suggested for the poorest diet and extremely strong symptoms.
